Microsoft Fumbles!! No “Save As” Button In Excel 2007

April 18, 2007 · Filed Under Most Recent College Football Recruiting Posts

After paying 480 dollars for a preimium Microsoft product “Microsoft Office 2007″ I have come across a horrific flaw in Microsoft Excel. It seems as though Billy Boy Gates forgot to include a “SAVE AS” button. He must of just forgot to add it, just like he forgot to make Vista compatible with the current version of Quick Books. So before you spend 2 hours modifying a document in Excel remember that you can’t perform a “Save As” and that those numb nuts at Microsoft are laughing at you.

I am surprised at the response… you are %100 correct as far as I can see looking at my new copy of Excel 2007. A Save-As command is not visible, even in the customize the ‘quick access toolbar’. Probably the ‘numbnuts’ comment set them off :)

The save command does a save-as only if the file has not already been named. I will keep looking in case I overlooked it. Regards

When clicking the office logo (upper left corner), you’ll get to see the Save As option

Well, Sarah is exactly correct… Click the Office Logo button and right in there you will find a Save As with all the file formats you might need to do a good Save As. And uh, maybe, before you go posting a criticism of ‘Billy Boy’ you might try using common sense and looking around the interface, or even, if daring enough, try the help file. Otherwise, ‘Billy Boy’ doesnt look like the idiot, uh… you do.

I would like to state for the record. I have used word, excel, etc. for years. I do web programming including JAVA quite decently and consider myself pretty good at exploring menus, but even I had to look up where the heck the save as button is. Which in my opinion is ridiculous. You don’t normally click a logo in a program to find the file menu…. low and behold you click the word “File” and if it takes more than 15 to 30 seconds to find a command as basic and absolutely necessary as “Save As”…somewhere the design team has gone seriously wrong… and “Billy Boy Gates” as you all refer to him needs to “look at” and “use” his new product before releasing it.

If you goto the Office Logo then goto Save As make sure its high lighted, right click on it and add to Quick Access Toolbar and presto rocky you got it on the toolbar

Dont listen to all the silly digg comments. Your blog post helped me find that piece of a %&*! Save As button. Hidden behind a logo, how foolish is that.

I also use excel 2003 all the time and couldn’t find it… and thinking to have to click the logo is stupid!!! Help wasn’t very clear either… doing a search on simply “save as” gives you lots of info other than where to find the %*$#& button. Thnx for the “real” help! and thnx to Brian it’s now back happily where it should be :-)

Ditto most of the above comments and THANK YOU for helping me keep my sanity today looking for “save as”. I would never have thought to look behind the logo. Now it’s on the quickbar where it belongs. Jeez!
