Who is this guy anyway? I mean listen to this guy he starts the first post on the site with “What a flaming asshat this guy is – every time he comes into a game, it’s just about as close to an automatic loss as you can get for the Mets. As soon as he comes into a game, we Mets fans turn the TV off, because there’s no need to watch the inevitable ” and who ever heard of a PA Mets Fan? As a college football blog Fumbled.org SHUNS YOU! At a board meeting August 9th, the NCAA will reconsider rules, including one that bans coaches from sending text messages to college football recruits.
The board could un-do the text messaging rule, or create new legislation. The rules in  place now have no restrictions on text messaging with recruits. The new rule is scheduled to take effect Aug. 1. Should the board make changes, the rule would be rescinded. If it is affirmed, the rule would remain in place until a January vote at the NCAA’s annual convention in Nashville, Tenn.
Many of the schools that appealed the original legislation said they favored some text messaging restrictions but not an outright ban.

Yahoo! says the buy will bolster its existing sports coverage, which mostly focuses on national sports. Rivals, which opened in 2001, claims two million visitors a month and concentrates on college football and basketball.
The deal, we’re told, is all about community and Rivals’ “most engaged sports audience on the internet”.
Although financial terms were not disclosed, speculation is that Yahoo! paid in the region of $100m.
Rivals has 180,000 subscribers who pay $10 a month, and the site also brings in cash from advertising and ecommerce.
The deal comes days after co-founder Jerry Yang took over the top job at Yahoo!, replacing Terry Semel, although presumably he didn’t put the deal together in four days. Read More…

A big stink was made when Pete Carroll announced he was looking to recruit high school sophmores after the 2 players graduated high-school. You have to admit, this did create a big distraction for these two kids but in the long run, they will have time to think about their future. Now basketball coach Tim Floyd has taken the term recruiting to a new level.
Floyd’s recruiting middle school talent. Yes, middle school. Jeff Goodman, writer for Fox Sports, reports that Floyd has received a verbal commitment from an eighth-grader. We’re talking barely past puberty. A line needs to be drawn somewhere. So the kid may domminate a middle school basketball game, but once you enter high-school, especially for a huge school, the game is different. This is way to early to even consider a players talent. He probably still watches Spongebob for god sakes!
Some express concerns, as they should!
Mike Boatwright said the biggest concern surrounding his 14-year-old son’s decision is the potential local reaction.
“I’m tremendously concerned,” he admitted. “It could get ugly as far as kids getting jealous. I also don’t want it to get to his head. I want him to stay humble.”
What guidelines should be set in place when talking about a child’s future and education?
