The first televised college football game occurred during the “experimental” era of television’s broadcasting history, when a game between Fordham University and Waynesburg College was broadcast on September 30, 1939. One month later, on October 23, 1939, Kansas State’s homecoming contest against the University of Nebraska was the second to be broadcast. The following season, on October 5, 1940, what is described as the “first commercially televised game” between the University of Maryland and the University of Pennsylvania was broadcast by Philco. Fairly sporadic broadcasts continued throughout World War II to brodcast games whenever they could.

The fact of the matter is college and pro football players need to behave! With the recent jerk-offs who have been in trouble, doing unspeakable things, college football and the NFL have begun to develop a black smudge over both organizations.
We all know the Michael Vick Story, and recently (yesterday a story surfaced about the Rutgers Assistant Coach beating his girlfriend in a bar. Totally unacceptable behavior that could have erased if these people would use common sense.
These players and even coaches are fumbling the integrity of the game away.

I’m really very excited about it.” Sutton and his players planned to tour many colleges this summer. Some on the list included Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Rutgers and West Virginia. But the Gators swallowed them up like golf caddies.

The Oklahoma football program must forfeit its wins from the 2005 season and will lose two scholarships for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years.Â
The penalties, announced Wednesday by the NCAA, stem from a case involving two players, including the Sooners’ starting quarterback, who were kicked off the team for being paid for work they had not performed at a Norman car dealership.
Should the NCAA be allowed to go back as far as 3 years ago and strip colleges of achievements? Was this necessary?

Former University of Miami coach Larry Coker has been hired by ESPNU to work this fall, at the network. ESPNU formally announced this on Thursday.Coker spent six seasons with Miami, going 60-15 and winning the 2001 national championship. He was fired last November, before Miami finished its 2006 campaign with a 7-6 record. You may remember all the beatings he took from players and fans throughout his last season at Miami. The signing of Coker to ESPNU will fire up all those blogs out there that wanted him fired from the team. And let me tell you: it will get ugly! Fanblog’s wrote an article 8 months ago explaining just how bad the Miami area wanted to see Coker go!
“The Fire Coker crowd took to the skies in force this weekend to call for the ousting of the Hurricanes head coach, hiring three planes to pull anti-Coker banners over the Orange Bowl during the Houston – Miami game. ”

The 5-foot-10, 196-pound Jackson, who rushed for 2,200 yards while scoring 26 touchdowns as a junior, will announce his decision in October. He stated that Alabama, Georgia and LSU, are not officially considered out of his decision yet. But the truth is Penn State could use him on this year’s college football recruiting list and Paterno is very optimistic about Jackson.

The American League Continued its streak by beating the national league in 9 innings with a score of 5-4.
Overall the game was very well thought out by the media and Fox Sports, keeping the attention of sports fans through-out the entire game. Of course the home plate umpire getting beaned three times helped liven it up a bit. Bases were loaded with 2 outs in the bottom of 9th. Rodriquez made it interesting by walking two of those runners. Aaron Rowand flew out to deep right to end the game.
However, the NL needs to come up with a plan to quit fumbling the game away to the American League. They have now lost 9 straight All-Star games. Pathetic!
Also, If you look at Interleague Play the American League Runs the show on that channel too!
Some focus the blame to the Mets hogging up the NL roster. Naaaa. It couldnt be those Mets.
MVP? Did you have to ask? Ichiro Suzuki capped off a 3-for-3 night with the first ever inside-the-park HR in the history of the All-Star Game. It was also Ichiro’s first ever inside the park homerun!

It’s real simple. Iverson found himself inside a scuffle at a bar. When his body guards took over Iverson significant other saw stars and money all at the same time. If this was a confrontation between to average people, there is no way in hell the court would award a quarter million dollars to the one of the persons involved in a barroom fight. The fact is the case should have been dismissed, both Iverson and the other party of 1 was at fault. This did even involve a game, a Quarter Million Dollars, NOT A GAME, A Quarter Million Dollars..
What do you think?

When it comes to College Football Recruiting USC doesn’t  Top the Charts in talent with current and prospective players for no reason. That reason is Todd McNair. McNair eat, sleeps and breathes football recruiting and boy does it show.
How in the world does USC, with a depth chart that wound up 10 deep — yep, that’s 10 deep — at tailback, persuade high school All-American after high school All-American to sign with the school and believe, beyond a doubt, they’ll play from the moment they step on the field? (more…)

The top-ranked player nationally is quarterback Terrelle Pryor from Jeannette, Pa. The comment line on Pryor says, “The next Vince Young?” Good news, Ohio State fans. The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder lists OSU among his potential schools. The bad news? There are 10 others on the list, including Michigan, Florida and Notre Dame.

More than 61,000 Notre Dame alumni requested tickets for the school’s Oct. 20 football game against USC, making it the second-most demanded ticket in school history. The 61,685 tickets sought for the game is second only to the 66,670 alumni ticket requests received for last year’s Penn State game, the school said.
This is absolutley amazing, the game is more 4 months away! ..And USC will probably blow out the happy-go-lucky Irish anyway!

Charlie Weis has nailed a few verbal agreements that sets the Irish up with 6 out of the top 100 recruits for the 2008 season.
