A Poll System Can’t Elect the Best President Let Alone A BCS Team

It is the only poll structured system in sports that can award a National Championship to a team based only on “style” points. Not only that, too many assumptions are made. We all know the troubles assumptions can bring and the name it spells when the first three letters are acknowledged. Look what a poll system did to our country. Polls are not accurate enough to pick the best person for the job or the best team in the nation. Polls are simply a way to find out who has more money, fans, and who looks the “coolest.”  Two words! “Style points!”

It is amazing how both the BCS and United States of America are currently in shambles because of a flawed poll system. College football needs to get rid of the poll system and re-amp the possibly of playoffs. Playoffs? Playoffs? Yes, I am talking about playoffs! Yes Jim Mora, I am not kidding you! We are talking about playoffs here!

Anyway, for example; LSU is currently ranked number 1 and Oregon was ranked number 2 (before suffering their loss on Thursday). By assumption, Oregon should lose to LSU by a mere 10 points considering their ranking has been polled one spot behind LSU. However, all teams have flaws and when matched up against opponents that have different flaws; the outcome of a game can be significantly different than what “should have happened” (based on the BCS). Rankings do not show the flaws in teams that other teams can capitalize on and in the end win the football game.
Just like our beloved president who has stupidity flaws.
My prediction is; by the year 2010 the BCS will have a playoff system of 14 or more of the top ranked teams. Even though the poll will be used to grab those teams; at least we may have chance of watching the two best teams in the nation battling it out for a title. And who knows maybe Obama will pull an upset in the 2008 election.
