USC football’s home stadium not up for sale

10:21 am in College Football Recruiting, Features by admin

The state Senate rejected legislation Thursday that would require the state to sell the site of the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and adjoining Los Angeles Sports Arena. The bill’s author, Sen. Jeff Denham, R-Merced, said the stadium is “falling apart” and that selling the land would generate as much as $400 million to help ease the state’s budget crunch. California is facing a $15.2 billion deficit in the fiscal year that starts July 1. Details..компютри

Put the little man and his fiddle away. You saw this coming. Why pick on a University that stimulates your economy in revenue and education. REJECTED!

The future plans for the stadium include new seats, upgrade the video and scoreboard on the peristyle end and add a video-scoreboard on the other end of the stadium. To help pay for the improvements, the university will try to lure a “naming” sponsor for the facility and it has been specified that USC will pay rent which includes 8 percent of gross ticket sales for home games, half of game-day expenses, and 8 percent of revenue from live television broadcasts when the crowd is below 70,000.

Barack Obama’s College Sports Days!

9:39 am in College Football News by admin

Yea it’s true Obama played Flag Football! Not real tackle football though-reframing from breaking a nail was always a con rather than a pro to those real rough sports. Water polo, tennis always felt to be a “safe subject or matter”, that could always spark an inspirational speech if needed.

Back when he was a young pup, Barack Obama went to college. Some of his former classmates remember he was a supernice guy who stood up to menacing bums; others say he was aloof; and still others ask, “Barry who?” Such was the wonderful enigmatic palimpsest of Barack Obama back in the days when he wore “$5 military-surplus khakis and used leather jackets” and roomed with some guy who later became a loser due to his cocaine addiction. Joe Paterno: Hospitalized-Treated and Released

11:22 pm in College Football Recruiting by admin

Penn State coach Joe Paterno spent several hours at a hospital being treated for dehydration before returning home late Thursday.

The 81-year-old coach had been working at home late in the morning when he began feeling nauseated and was taken by ambulance to Mount Nittany Medical Center, team spokesman Guido D’Elia said. Paterno had tests at the hospital but was not admitted. Minneapolis Star Tribune, MN

Paterno was released and back home Thursday evening, and doctors determined he suffered from dehydration, team officials said.

Hey, it happens at age 81. All I can say is, atleast it wasn’t during a game (with a crowd of 100,000) or in front of his team AGAIN. No one is exactly sure what he was doing when he became severely dehydrated. We will keep you updated when the details surface!

Police: Florida player used dead girl’s credit card

10:41 am in College Football News, Features by admin

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP)—A Florida football player was kicked off the team Friday after turning himself in on charges he used the gas credit card of a woman who was killed along with another player in a motorcycle accident.

Jamar Hornsby, a 21-year-old junior safety, learned Thursday that a judge had issued a warrant for his arrest on charges he used the dead woman’s gas card for six months, so he surrendered on charges of credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card, lawyer Huntley Johnson said.

Hornsby was released from jail several hours later on his own recognizance.

It was not immediately clear how Hornsby got the card. Johnson declined to comment on the specifics of the case, but said they would cooperate with authorities. Read More from Yahoo Sports

Florida coach Urban Meyer announced a few days ago that Hornsby is no longer apart of the Gators Football Program. Thank God! The worst part of this whole situation is; he used it not once or twice, but more than 70 times. This was just a cold hearted, sick crime. This tells you how secure it is to keep a credit card in your wallet. Even if you are dead people can and will make you bend over.

Washington State to lose eight football scholarships

11:40 pm in College Football News by admin

Washington State University will lose eight football scholarships for failing to satisfy the latest NCAA academic progress standards, school officials said Tuesday.

Two scholarships apply to this academic year and the other six are factored into the 2008 recruiting class, athletic director Jim Sterk said.

“The NCAA has an appeals process, but at this point we felt it was best to accept our penalties and move the football program forward,” Sterk said.

The NCAA on Tuesday released a nationwide report that recommended possible scholarship losses at nearly 150 college teams in all sports. Washington State’s football program was the only sport among the four Division I programs in the state – including Washington, Eastern Washington and Gonzaga – to face potential scholarship losses. 10:24 am in College Football News by admin

That’s right! The report from Gainsville is that the trophy was FUMBLED by Plant High tight end Orson Charles.

While competing in a Nike training camp, Orson told reporters that he and another were roaming around the football stadium. According to TBO.com, That’s where the BCS trophy, along with Gators quarterback Tim Tebow’s Heisman Trophy, were on display. While leaning over to take a photo of the Heisman, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Charles said he bumped into the BCS trophy – he thinks with his backside – and knocked it to the ground.

Wow. What embarrassment, he can’t even take a picture without wrecking the join! Sounds like a perfect script in the making for a Twix commercial! To bad he is already in Florida. The value of trophy was considered to be roughly 35,000 dollars. OPPS!

Ryan Perrilloux: One Bad Apple Destroys The Bunch!

10:10 am in College Football News by admin

They say one bad apple destroys the bunch. Ryan Perrilloux’s situation is the classic example. A quarterback who is in charge of a great offense that fails to do his job on and off the field can demolish a team’s chance at a national title. As a response to the comment below: The only judging going on here is from a different kind of bench.

“It’s mighty funny how people are so quick to judge someone. To me it sounds like Les Miles got tired of “hearing” about Perrilloux. He should stop reading the papers. Let’s see. Nightclub incident – Cleared of wrongdoing. So there was no nightclub incident. He missed a team meeting to attend the funeral of his father. Nothing wrong there. And lastly he tried to get in a club with fake id. Wow. It’s not like that’s a felony or nothing. You’ll are funny. Enjoy the day… “  ESPN News Comment

BATON ROUGE, La. — Ryan Perrilloux seemed like a perfect fit for LSU.

The Louisiana native had the rocket arm, mobility and versatility to make him a constant big-play threat and one of the most sought-after quarterback prospects in the country coming out of high school. He even had the French last name.

His lack of discipline off the field, however, became an increasing distraction for head coach Les Miles, who finally decided Perrilloux’s presence on the roster was more trouble than it was worth. Perrilloux tested positive on a drug test, leading Miles to dismiss him on Friday morning, two sources close to the situation told ESPN’s Joe Schad. Read More From ESPN CF News
