“Yes, same story different year, and once again the talking heads of the sports world are looking at the Tigers to take the ACC Atlantic Division.”

I keep hearing the same thing from the so-called “experts,” but this simply isn’t true. Clemson has never, to my knowledge, been picked by the major publications to win the Atlantic Division prior to this year. I always reserve the right to be wrong, so please show me if I am. The Tigers have been pegged as 2nd or 3rd in the Division, but never 1st. Sure, they’ve blown a couple of chances to win it at the end of the season, but as far as pre-season expectations go, your statement is simply not true.

But I guess if enough people say it, people start believing it.

Phillip’s right. In Bowden’s 9 years, Clemson has finished better than preseason expectations 7 times, finished the same 1 time and finished worse than predicted 1 time. Last time Clemson was picked to win the ACC was 1991…the last time they won it! Last year Clemson was picked to finish 3rd in the Atlantic but finished 2nd. Fuzzy math by the media, huh?
