Today marks the one year anniversary of the tragic events that led up to the deadliest shooting spree in U.S. History. On April 16, 2007 the nation was brought to its knees by what we all now know to be as the Virginia Tech Massacre. 32 innocent people consisting of students and faculty tragically lost their lives as a gunman invaded the campus.

Fumbled.org asks you to remember those who lost their lives or had their lives changed forever. Numerous remembrance ceremonies will be conducted throughout the day to honor the fallen students and faculty that courageously took their last breath on that dark and dreary day.

Cnn.com has posted a tribute of victims which can be seen here. Cnn Tribute Take the time to click through an amazing salute and tribute.

I would like to extend my condolences to all of the friends and family members of the victims. As human beings we learn from and forgive the mistakes of others and move forward through the journey of life. Virginia Tech has chosen to move forward and most would say they have come along way within the last year. Many students had left the campus to continue their academic careers while other chose to stay. The Virginia Tech football team had a great season considering the recent situation. Golf team captain, and a junior at VT, Drew Weaver has made school history and will compete with Tiger Woods in this years “Masters”. Not a bad way to lift spirits.

The moral here is; no matter what there is hope, always live your life to the fullest day-by-day, appreciate your peers, friends, family and employees and most importantly let them all know you appreciate them.

I will end with a quote from “Alex Hitchens” (Hitch)…

Life is not the amount of breaths you take, it’s the moments that take your breath away….

Sit back and get ready, because now its on…I mean really on! On April 18th, 2008, Joe Horrigan, Vice President of the Pro Football Hall of Fame will come to Pottsville, Pennsylvania (home of Yuengling) to debate the much anticipated return of “The Stolen NFL 1925 Championship” with ESPN senior writer and Maroons supporter David Fleming. The debate will be held at the newly reconstructed Sovereign Majestic Theater in downtown Pottsville.

According to the Pottsville Republican, Horrigan will take the viewpoint opposing Fleming, an opinion that by their own choice and despite repeated warnings, the Maroons disobeyed an NFL rule and therefore do not deserve the title. Jim Coles the main sports anchor for WNEP-Newswatch 16 (A Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania News Network) will moderate the debate between Horrigan and Fleming.

The debate will surley keep the Pottsville Maroons in the recently acquired national spotlight. Fleming has done an outstanding job of circulating his most recent book about the Maroons “Breaker Boys: The NFL’s Greatest Team and the Stolen 1925 Championship“. It has been said to be “selling faster than Harry Potter” in the community and surrounding areas. The February edition of ESPN The Magazine showcased an article about the Maroons and the curse that is said to be held over the cardinals franchise by Maroon fans for their unethical acceptance of the championship.

The Republican also stated that about 150 tickets — about two-thirds of the seats — will be raffled off March 30 at The REPUBLICAN & Herald, 111 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. Free tickets will be distributed in the random drawing, while the remaining seats will be reserved for invited guests.

The debate is the next important step in justifying the unreasonable events that took place in 1925. Fumbled.org supports the Maroons and hopes to see the title returned to its home, Pottsville Pennsylvania! GO DAVE!!!

The NFL wanted to come up with a more cleaner and meaner looking design for the future and 2008.

“The league is creating a leaner, meaner version of the iconic logo that will debut at the NFL draft in April, 2008. “The redesign marks the first changes to the shield since 1980″.

Drum roll please………….And This is what you get…

Â

WOW!!!! (sarcastic) You hear the league is re-designing their logo and you see this as the finished product? “Â The National Football League is launching a makeover of its red, white and blue “NFL Shield” logo that adorns everything from player jerseys to fan T-shirts and hats.” Is what was stated.

They removed a few stars and change the angle of the football? A kid with a coloring book could have fixed that.

I’m not so sure how this looks to you but it sure as hell isnt “meaner looking”. I would love to know how long this took to finish because anyone with photoshop on hand could have done a better job in 10 minutes. What do you think to the logo should look like?

The Dayton Triangles were an original franchise of the American Professional Football Association (now the National Football League) in 1920. The Triangles were based in Dayton, Ohio, and took their nickname from their home field, Triangle Park (capacity 5,000), which was located at the confluence of the Great Miami and Stillwater Rivers in north Dayton.

An Official Jersey Worn by the Triangles
Sponsored by the Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company (or Delco), the Dayton Metal Products Company and the Domestic Engineering Company (now called Delco-Light), the Triangles existed as a semi-pro squad in the 1910s, playing other top teams in the football-rich areas of Ohio and western Pennsylvania. On October 3, 1920, the Triangles won their first APFA game, a 14-0 defeat of the Columbus Panhandles in Triangle Park.

A 1925 Triangles Program Cover vs. the Giants

The high point of the Triangles’ 1920 season was a 20-20 tie at Triangle Park with Jim Thorpe’s Canton Bulldogs; it was the first time a team had scored three touchdowns on the Bulldogs since 1915. Trailing the Triangles, 20-14, Thorpe nailed two late field goals to tie the score. Six games into the season, the Triangles remained undefeated (4-0-2) but in the final three games lost twice to eventual league champion Akron Pros, ending 1920 with a 5-2-2 mark(Wikipedia.com).

The Triangles entered the league around the same time as the Pottsville Maroons, one of the greatest NFL Teams ever that have been forgotten until recently..(Official Site). A petition has been started to bring back the championship to Pottsville PA, that was stolen by the NFL after a so-called rule violation.

In 2006, I was approached to begin building websites by friends and local businesses. Before I knew it I was working for an Internet Marketing Agency that came into the area. However, I was never aware of the headaches associated with hosting a website. It doesn’t seem like a hard concept. I chose a company called Startlogic Inc, whom I found through a friend. I visited their site to sign up for a hosting plan. I took notice to the following snippets of text on their homepage like: Award winning 24/7 support”, “Trusted by 100,000 customers”, and “Real People. Real Service. Real Savings.”

Let me tell you about “Real Service.” Startlogic has proven themselves to be the furthest thing from award winning support, and I would like to talk to just one of these 100,000 customers that trust them. After physically calling support because of problems with my sites over the last 2 years I have come to the conclusion that I would rather call Dell and talk to Apu Muhammad in India. He can not speak English but at least he answers the phone and gives it a shot.

After being on hold for 2 hours I finally reached Startlogic support to cancel all of my hosting subscriptions. So what did Startlogic do? They renewed them all for another year. So now I had to wait on the phone for another 4 hours trying to talk to a human being, and at the end I was asked to fill out a complaint ticket. Let me tell you about complaint tickets by Startlogic. You have a better chance contacting George W. Bush by telegraph to get results on lowering the country budget. Seriously, if you can’t handle the amount of customers with the staff you have, you need to A. Fire the Staff, B. Hire more staff.

After Startlogic withdrew large, unauthorized amounts of money out of my bank account I was informed it would take more than 5 days for that money to return. Talk about an inconvenience. So I am currently trying to figure out how much money I have saved with Startlogic. Maybe the saving will come from the 8 hours I’ve spent on hold in the last two days or the service charges I got nailed for, because my bank account was overdrawn.

Startlogic has no logic! I recommend GoDaddy.com or Bluefishhosting.com or anyone else on that matter.

HONOLULU — After sitting out two days of practice following a concussion, Colt Brennan returned to the field Wednesday to take a few snaps, with Hawaii coach June Jones saying the quarterback has been cleared to play Friday at Nevada.Â
Doctors and trainers have determined Brennan is fine following the injury Saturday in a 37-30 victory over Fresno State, Jones said. “If the game was today, I would say he would play,” Jones said following practice.According to the Canadian Health Network..for concussions with loss of consciousness, the minimum time away from activities with risk of head injury is 3 weeks. But this is how it goes. Football always takes precedence over saftey.

“CBS has informed us that the unusual audio moment heard by fans during the Patriots-Colts game was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck and was isolated to the CBS broadcast,” NFL vice president Greg Aiello tells us. “It was in no way related to any sound within the stadium and could not be heard in the stadium.”

The Pottsville Maroons played in the National Football League (NFL) from 1925 to 1928. The team was owned by Dr. J.G. Streigel and played at Minersville Park, now home to the King’s Village shopping plaza. The location of the King’s Village shopping plaza is 2 miles west of Pottsville, PA., across the street from where fumbled.org is published. It is humiliating to see a single sign outside of the plaza in honor of one of the greatest NFL teams in history. A shopping plaza with a “Family Dollar” store, being the center of attention in a “coal cracker” town and a small sports bar “Maroon’s Sports Bar & Grill”; is not the way to be remembered. However, the Maroons are far from being forgotten.

The picture below is what has become of the historic football field that played host to many NFL games, including the 1925 championship game that was ripped from the hearts of players and supporters.
On December 6, Pottsville defeated Chicago, 21-7, to be awarded the best record in the NFL and seemed to all but officially clinch the NFL championship.

Â

However, two things happened: First, the Cardinals hastily scheduled games against two weak teams which had disbanded for the year. Secondly, NFL President Joseph Carr suspended the Maroons for playing a team of University of Notre Dame All-Stars in Philadelphia (and winning 9-7) on the same day the Frankford Yellow Jackets were scheduled to play a game in Philadelphia, violating Frankford’s franchise rights. Although Carr warned the Maroons in writing that they faced suspension if they played the Notre Dame All-Stars in Philadelphia, the Maroons claim that the league office verbally approved the game during a telephone call (wikipedia).

There is considerable controversy over whether the Maroons should have been awarded the 1925 NFL Championship instead of the Chicago Cardinals. After almost 90 plus years; the city of Pottsville and surrounding areas have begun a revolt to bring back the 1925 NFL Championship challenging the NFL on the issues surrounding the Maroons disqualification. An Online Pottsville Maroons Petition that you can (and should) sign has been started (by ESPN and author David Fleming) in hopes of showing the support that the Pottsville Maroons still have.

Recently, interest and support has hit an all-time level. ESPN sports writer David Fleming has written a book about the controversial elements surrounding the 1925 NFL title. He tries to explain what really took place in his book ‘Breaker Boys: The NFL’s Greatest Team and the Stolen 1925 Championship’ by providing sufficient evidence that the Pottsville Maroons should be the rightful owners of the 1925 NFL title. The point of the book was to turn the national spotlight over to the constant supporters of the Pottsville Maroon’s legacy. But there’s more…

After signing hundreds of copies of his book for Maroons fans in Pottsville during the three-day “Maroons Week” celebration Oct. 10-13, David Fleming announced ESPN would launch the petition in an attempt to help the team get its National Football League championship back.

Fleming asked all of the supporters and citizens of Pottsville, and all other citizens of surrounding areas for their time dedication and contributions to help the Pottsville Maroon’s get what they deserve.
“E-mail it to your friends, put it in blogs, put it up on message boards, let this thing take off in cyberspace,” said Fleming, (republicanherald.com).

Fleming was very successful. As of today, the petition to date, contains over 7200 signatures and a new name appears almost every 2 minutes. The local newspaper The Republican Herald has written several articles trying to spark interest in the area and provides information on where to find the petition.
A major break-through took place today (October 23, 2007) in the fight to return the championship. Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney and Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said the still have interesting in settling the dispute over the championship.

“I’m all for it. I think that we should make this a national campaign issue,” Lurie said. “I would love to see that. They deserve it.”

Cardinals franchise when questions always produces a hostile reaction to any question involving the 1925 championship. Answers like “it is not longer a discussion”, or “this isn’t a topic of interest” are always given in response. The fact is because of all the support the pressure is on. For the city of Pottsville, I personally thank author David Fleming for all the work he has done to re-amp the battle with the NFL.

With the support of NFL players and teams, ESPN, and fellow supporters: Lets keep the pressure on and BRING THE CHAMPIONSHIP BACK TO POTTSVILLE!

Campus police said the preliminary investigation indicated that Bradford was targeted and not the victim of a random act of violence. An incident from the night before may have caused this act.

The University of Memphis is closed today because of the act of violence.

Apparently, when you pull a Reggie Bush and Sheldon Brown type of hit, the words “Big Hit” are displayed on the screen. Apparently, those words are unacceptable to 12 year old children. There is no reason this game should be posted on a brain injury blog. Who comes up with that stuff anyway.

Some express the following: “If the NFL is serious in their concern over concussions, they ought to rethink the image they are creating in the minds of young fans when they allow these video games to be produced under their license. The NFL should learn that the best cure for brain injuries is prevention! ”

I say shut up and be glad you kid is not playing “Tour of Duty”, “Man Hunt 2″, or other horrific video game out on the market. THIS IS JUST FOOTBALL!

“I’m sorry Mike but it honestly doesnt look like the NFL or the NAACP is going to bail you out if that’s what you are hoping.”

Even though Vick has pleaded guilty, he still is not admitting to killing dogs or gambling. So what is a guilty plea when you do not admit to being guitly? A Source told ESPN that Vick will only admit to funding these events completely. If it is proven otherwise that he did take part in the actual dog fighting, the plea bargain will not do anything for him. This could be the biggest fumbled of his career. He is clearly trying to play the system like placing a bet on a puppy. The easiest way out is to admit everything he has done and do the time.

As of right now Vick is looking to five years, but it seems he will go all in with only a pair of …?

By the way people are acting on the issue; you would think the kickoff tee has been moved into the bleachers. The NCAA rules committee approved a change this year in which the kickoff tee is moved back 5 yards to the kicking team’s 30-yard line. It’s only a 5-yard difference, but many feel that it will have a negative impact on the game.

Kicking the ball out of bounds on purpose?

“There may be some people that decide they want to kick it out of bounds and give it to the team at the 35-yard line rather than kicking it deep and having a return out to the 40 or 45.”

Too Many Kick Returns?

“He said we only really returned about 25 percent of the kicks. Now, we predict we’ll be returning 75 to 90 percent of the kicks. ” I highly doubt that 25 percent of all kicks were returned anyway…

Scoring Average Will Rise?

Some coaches say the score will rise to be above the average 20 percent higher with more pressure on the defense more than ever before.

More injuries?Â

Most injuries occur on running plays when the runner and the opposing players collide at a high rate of speed. Some say kickoffs include those factors more than the kickoff.

Most Importantly More FUMBLES!Â

Does the NCAA need more turnovers during a college football game?

Conclusion

Moving the tee back five yard will not destroy college football, but the sissyness of the players and coaches whinning to the press will!

The Browns, who have lost at least 10 games in each of the past four seasons and have just one winning record since ’99, landed perhaps their franchise tackle and QB that could possibly take the Browns to the playoffs in December.

The Browns didn’t pass up a second chance at drafting the Notre Dame quarterback, who before he wore the Fighting Irish’s famed golden helmet, strapped on the plain orange one of the team he rooted for as a kid.

“In the end, it worked out the best way possible,” Quinn said.

“Amidst the drama are recruiting experts. If ever there were words not meant to go together it is recruiting and expert. Partisan, quick to anger if a recruit won’t talk to them; these experts feed at the bottom of the football ocean, eating the waste products of what is great about the college game.

Paid by various “services,” these football hookers whisper whatever their pimp tells them. Among those this humble scribe detests is Tom Luginbill, ESPN’s recruiting analyst. His self-written biography that appears as one of his articles, wherein he discusses the recruiting “wars” he endured, is hilarious as it offers a peek inside an ego that makes Ted Turner appear humble.”

This guy watches too many cartoons. Why don’t you tell scout.com that they are a bunch of idiots. Then you will have everyone laughing at you including all the pimps around the world! What’s up New York???!!

Some say the Yankees are better then the Mets because of their better history and the legends that the franchise produced. When people join the Yankees they become legends like Babe Ruth,Lou Gehrig,Reggie Jackson,Jim Hunter, and Ron Guidry. Who have the Mets produced? Shawn Green?

A Quote from AC inc. states “The Mets will never win the hearts of the other half of the city, but they’re vying at least for the respect of their rival fan base.” Ouch!

Why do you think the Yankees are more popular? Competition! Who do the Mets really play? The Yankees have recent World Champion and bitter rival Boston to contend with, along with a Blue Jays teams that spanked them in a four-game series recently. The Mets really have no contender to deal with in the National League East. The Phillies have the talent to make the playoffs and we all know they can beat the Mets. We could see the downfall of the Mets this October when Philly makes a playoff run.

You can’t blame the Mets for being in their division. Regardless of who plays there, they’re still winning, and that’s good in itself. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re better than any American League team, in this case the Yankees.

Next time you see the Gatorade coolers on the sideline remember this;  Players drink 6,200 gallons of Gatorade during the course of one season. Amazing. Remember a few months back when the news came out about Gatorade rotting your teeth?

“The University of Iowa researchers covered extracted teeth with nail polish. They left bare two patches on each tooth, one on the enamel and one on the root. Then they dunked the teeth in test tubes filled with regular Coke, Diet Coke, Gatorade, Red Bull, or 100% apple juice.

Every five hours, the researchers refreshed the beverages. After 25 hours, they examined the teeth with a microscope. All of the beverages eroded the bare spots on the teeth. But different beverages had significantly different effects.

On the enamel, Gatorade was significantly more corrosive than Red Bull and Coke. Red Bull and Coke, in turn, were significantly more corrosive than Diet Coke and apple juice.”

Now imagine hammering 6,200 gallons of Gatorade in 9 months. So next time you see a Football player with no teeth remember this: They drink 6,200 gallons of Gatorade in 9 months.

In an article written by the associated press in April, they try to make it clear that college football recruiting blogs and websites are tremendous distractions to high-school athletes and staff. The article quoted:Â

“Despite their popularity, they are increasingly coming under attack by coaches and administrators who argue they heap too much attention on young, impressionable student-athletes.”

Bobby Burton, editor-in-chief for Rivals.com expressed the following: “All we’ve done is bring to light something that’s been going on forever.”

Mr. Fumbles says: “It is not the blogs and websites causing the problems, it is the ego of players, staff, and coaches that make way for troublesum situations”, “Just because your name is Michael Vick doesn’t mean you can do anything.”

The popularity of college football blogs and college football recruiting websites have exploded off the charts within the recent years. It seems as though in today’s society the focus is more on the players a team MIGHT get then the actual team itself. Some say this is why On Feb. 7, when most high school football stars signed a Division I national letter of intent, more than 70 million people logged onto Rivals.com. Amazing!

In light of the situation, college football blogs and websites should not be hassled. They are working for the fans of College Football period, they are not trying to ruin the lives of little children on a tee-ball team.

The American League Continued its streak by beating the national league in 9 innings with a score of 5-4.

Overall the game was very well thought out by the media and Fox Sports, keeping the attention of sports fans through-out the entire game. Of course the home plate umpire getting beaned three times helped liven it up a bit. Bases were loaded with 2 outs in the bottom of 9th. Rodriquez made it interesting by walking two of those runners. Aaron Rowand flew out to deep right to end the game.

However, the NL needs to come up with a plan to quit fumbling the game away to the American League. They have now lost 9 straight All-Star games. Pathetic!

Also, If you look at Interleague Play the American League Runs the show on that channel too!

Some focus the blame to the Mets hogging up the NL roster. Naaaa. It couldnt be those Mets.

MVP? Did you have to ask? Ichiro Suzuki capped off a 3-for-3 night with the first ever inside-the-park HR in the history of the All-Star Game. It was also Ichiro’s first ever inside the park homerun!

When his body guards took over Iverson significant other saw stars and money all at the same time.
