Preseason starts this week!

Author: bmurray

Its here!! Football is right around the corner with the start of the preseason on Thursday at 7:30 EST, with Baltimore @ Philadelphia and Jacksonville at New England to kick off as the first games of the preseason, with 3 of the teams, New England, Baltimore and Philly being teams that can win the superbowl or at the very least make it deep into the playoffs, making for an exciting start to the preseason.

I am just happy that there is football this year, and need my fix soon! I know its only preseason, but I am excited and cannot wait for football, and preseason gives us a little taste on how the teams will play, and a chance to see how the rookies play, and position battles where players are competing for starting positions or just to be a part of the team.

After all this lockout shennanigans, it still should prove to be an exciting season, and it is just great that we have football back, as it is one of the only things worth watching on tv, in my opinion as we are swamped by garbage reality shows and other bad programming, so get ready, because in 3 days football is back!!!

The Minnesota Vikings traded two sixth round draft picks to the Washington Redskins for 12 year veteran starter Donovan McNabb.

The Vikings also made it very clear that McNabb is the starter, barring some unforeseen circumstances, and not just a person brought in to mentor young quarterbacks.

This is the 3rd home for McNabb, after spending 11 years with the Eagles, leading them 1 one trip to the Superbowl, and five NFC championship games, McNabb then went to division rival Washington in 2010, which was a complete disaster, finishing the season with the worst stats of his career, with 15 interceptions, 14 touchdowns and a passer rating of 77.1.

McNabb had to restructure his contract before he was aloud to be traded and said “The main focus for me was get to a ballclub that has a chance at winning. It’s not about the money.”

McNabb is looking for a fresh start with the Vikings, with a lot of familiar faces on the coaching staff, and believes he can take them to the next level.

Cornerback…yes please!

Of course, Andy Reid is still recruiting from the Lost Boys Camp. It looks like Vince Young is coming Philly-way. What is interesting about Vince Young is that his draft year seemed to be one of the most promising we’d ever seen. Vince Young, Reggie Bush, D’Brickashaw Ferguson (who, BTW has the best name in football-hands down). Maybe the Houston Texans WERE smart by drafting Mario Williams. Sure we all scratched our heads at that pick, but he is still standing tall with the Texans Defense. Williams has a level head and seems to be a great investment.

Now for the REAL Question… will Chad Ochocinco tweet less now that he is with the Pats?

Football is back!!!!

Author: bmurray

Looks like the lockout is over, and there will be football this season!!! The owners and players agreed to terms and, now just waiting for the plaintiffs to sign as they agreed to.

Now that this is over and done with, we can get on to training camps and free agency and the fun of who is going where and team predictions and trash talking!

Full free agency begins on Friday at 6 pm EST.

James Harrison’s rants

Author: bmurray

I can understand him being mad about being fined for his hits as that is just nonsense, but what he is doing now is just pure idiocy, there is no need to come out and say the things that he is saying right now, there is no need to bash your teammates, no need to bash other retired players and no need for the general asshattery.

What is it with players anymore? It’s not just him, do they think they can go and say whatever they want without repercussions? Sure there is freedom of speech, but people forget is that others have freedom of speech as well and are free to react to what they say.

I’m no Steelers fan, but I respect their team, and view them as one of the classier organizations in the league, I don’t see their upper management putting up with this nonsense for too long and I see some disciplinary action coming his way, if not him being kicked off the team when this lockout business is settled.

People need to learn when to be quiet, as though some of his points are valid, they are overshadowed by all of his negative comments, as I said earlier, you are free to speak your mind, but you must be willing to accept  the consequences in doing so, as the other person is equally entitled to speak his or her minds as well.

His comments can be found here

Looks like the talks are making some progress! They set the date at July 21 to have the deal done. I for one am hoping they get this done, because I want my football!!!!

Pacman Arrested Again

Author: bmurray

Pacman Jones was arrested again, at a bar, for disorderly conduct and was also accused of resisting arrest and yelling obscenities at the police, which he denies, saying he wasn’t drinking, he did not yell anything and he just had his surgery so he could not resist arrest.

This is his second run in with police in Cincinnati police, it seems this guy can’t stay out of trouble, I think he should avoid bars and clubs as he only gets into trouble there, even if he doesn’t do anything, he still has that rap on him and trouble eventually will find him.

It’s sad really, as he has a lot of talent, if he’d only been able to stay out of trouble I think he would have been one of the elite cornerbacks in the NFL.

As I said, if I were him, as long as I wanted to stay in the NFL, I would avoid bars, nightclubs and strip joints at all costs, as it seems that trouble only follows him when he goes to those establishments and is it really worth it to throw away multi-million dollar contracts for one night on the town?

NFL’s Top 100

Author: bmurray

As you seen the NFL came out with a top 100 list. As could be expected not everybody agrees with their rankings, including myself as I think some are up there for hype and popularity rather than skill.

Things I disagree with

1. Tom Brady being number one. While being an excellent quarterback I believe he shouldn’t be number one, I believe Payton Manning should be at the number one spot.

2. Devin Hester being as high up on the list as he is. He is a great return man, but a mediocre wide out, should not be ranked as high as he is.

3. Matt Ryan should be ranked a lot higher than he is.

4. Asante Samuel  and Trent Cole also should be ranked higher.

5. Suh, Ndamukong should be ranked much higher than he is.

6. DeMarcus Ware should be bumped down a few.

7. Greg Jennings deserves to be ranked much higher on the list.

I also believe more O linemen need to be on this list, as they never get any love, and without them it doesn’t matter who you have you are going to be terrible, bad O line = bad offense, they almost never get the respect they deserver.

T.O., Give it up already

Author: bmurray

At one time T.O. was one of the most feared athletes in the NFL, he had size, he had speed, he had sure hands, he had power, and he had the know how to be great, it seemed he had it all.

Then his locker room antics, not being a team player and off field nonsense began to show, though some teams, put up with it for a while, because of how damn good he was, he could literally disrupt an entire defensive plan.

Eventually, his antics became too much and the teams he played for parted ways with him, where he would go to another team, behave for a year, then start the cycle all over again, being labeled a “diva’ and a problem player, gathering a media circus with him.

Now, his production on the field has had a sharp decline, he is getting injured, and he has that label on him.

He just recently underwent ACL surgery and wants to return to the NFL this yeah, but I don’t see this happening as no team is willing to pay big money for him, and if some team wants him, they are going to be offering him very little which I do not see him taking.

So I believe he should just retire instead of going through the ringer, and making his image worse, he was one of the best receivers in his prime, nobody can argue that, he was exciting to watch and if he didn’t have all of the off-field drama and the baggage I would have said he would be inducted very quickly into the hall of fame, I still believe he belongs there because of just how damn good the man was, but just think of the possibilities if he had just done things a little different, how much more respect he would have had, how many more people would like him, how much more he would have made and more teams would have been willing to take a risk with him in a situation like what is going on now.

Like I said, the man was good, a damn good player, but his time is over now and he should just bow out gracefully as one of the most talented wide receivers to ever play the game.

Andy’s Lost Boys

Author: megangloria

Word that Plaxico Burress is Philly bound has been circulating the internet with the speed usually reserved for boobs or Rage comics about video games. From now until the day they cart Andy off to the old cheesesteak stand in the sky, the press will be slapping helmet wings on any troubled football player.

If the rumors are to believed, Andy Reid walks into prison release centers and yells, ” Hey…can any of you play football?” Our Andy seems to like to rehabilitate, and sometimes Andy gets a real Dr. Drew moment- like Mike Vick. Not only was Vick in some really deep…stuff…with the law, he also had a tendency to play like a four year old with a cannon. Sure, the cannon can shoot through the room, but it can also misfire and take out your foot. Vick now seems to have that cannon tricked out with some Metroid crap that shoots lasers and fireworks.

Of course, sometimes the best intentions go horribly wrong and you get the ” Wide Receiver who shall not be named.”

Now there are rumors circulating about the troubled Albert Haynesworth ( see…see that word again) coming to the Eagles from the Dead…uhhh…Redskins. There is also some talk about Reggie Bush joining the Birds. Haynesworth has a bad reputation and had a really rocky season. A Bush-Vick offense would border on mystical-ninja mojo. So, kids, order your Haynesworth Jersey today.

About the Burress thing- while I am positive he will join the Lost Boys next year, do we really need him? We have DeSean Jackson, who I am pretty sure can split himself into 5 and stop time. Although, securing Plaxico would not be the worst move the Eagles can make.

Of course, the only football we may see this season is Pop-Warner so I guess we will have to wait and see. I just hope we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot…

On an article on the NFL site Pete Carroll was talking about the decision to strip USC of their title.

I think he knew what us up, and got the hell out of Dodge just in time before the NCAA dropped the hammer on USC.

He says people will know who won, I say they also will know that you were all shady and breaking the rules as well, and that is a huge black mark on the program and the school itself.

I hope giving Reggie Bush money was worth it all, and I think he should have to pay for it now, but he won’t, he gets away with being a crook and profits from it in the end.

Florida Teams

Author: bmurray

This is just me ranting but I HATE all the big Florida teams, every year they over hype them to such a degree that it is ridiculous, they are cocky, shady, ignorant and just plain asshats, but they know how to draw a crowd….

As the title says, will there be an NFL season? I really hope there will be, and also think if there isn’t it will do more harm than they good they think it will do if there isn’t any.

I am going to to ahead and say there is going to be, but that is me being hopeful

Is it just me

Author: bmurray

Is it just me, or does the NFL site always harp on how great the Cowboys are going to be? I mean from what they say, every year the Cowboys should win the Super Bowl and the other teams just shouldn’t even show up on the field because they don’t even stand a chance!

I have no idea why they do this, as the Cowboys usually end up doing terrible or losing the first game in the playoffs but I think it is funny about all the love and hype they get from the NFL and usually never can back it up, but year after year they still continue to hype them.

I for one think it is a bit funny and dumb, but then again I am not  Cowboys fan.

A local newspaper films a video of Maroons supporters lining up to meet David Fleming of ESPN, in the grand old town of Pottsville Pennsylvania. The Maroons Story

The Official Site of The Pottsville Maroons

David Fleming (author of the Breaker Boys and Senior ESPN writer) has requested that Fumbled.org provide an open thread to create a question and answer section regarding the disgraceful acts of imbalance by the NFL against the 1925 NFL Champions; The Pottsville Maroons. Fumbled.org (and possibly David Fleming) will help answer your questions,(based on our research) to the best of our ability. After, you post a question please sign the petition which resides here.
